An educator, researcher, poet, songwriter and producer. He is the author of two anthologies, Truly Pertinent Questions, and The Root of My Affection. Russell describes his poetry as political, passionate and provocative; it takes the mundane and makes it sublime. It is the attempt to capture reality through the lenses of an eclectic educated Jamaican that makes his writing riveting. Wayne is the Chief Executive Officer of Jamaica Lives LLC, the Executive Directors and Principle songwriter of Lyricsurge Records, a small indie recording label operating out of New York and Ft. Lauderdale. Wayne D. Russell is a Mathematics lecturer and researcher at Medgar Evers College, City University of New York and have presented academic papers in Mathematics both nationally and internationally.
